Not all fans may ask to see what their favorite characters would look like if they were animated, but, if animators give them that option, they should take them up on it every chance they get. With that said, anyone who grew up watchingThe Officewill get a kick out of this, especially if those same people also grew up watching cartoons likeThe Fairly OddParentsandDanny Phantom.

Granting a fan’s request on his own personal TikTok, animator Butch Hartman, best known for animating the latter two shows on Nickelodeon back in the 2000s, gave fans of him and ofThe Officea peek as to how he would animateRainn Wilson’s hilarious oddball Dwight Schrute. Knowing the specific style he used when animating his highly regarded cartoons, this is sure to be a treat for fans of all properties involved.

WithThe Office’s well-known theme song playing in the background, Hartman gave his own tutorial as to how Dwight would appear if he appeared in one of Hartman’s shows. Anyone who has experience in drawing knows how hard it can be to convert a live-action character into an animated one. For a veteran like Hartman, doing such a task is clearly a piece of cake. He not only accurately depicted Schruteas a cartoon character, he also made Dwight look hilarious in his own drawing style.

In all likelihood, this is just a fun little act of fanservice from a well-regarded animator and not much else. Still, it can’t help but make one wonder. Seeing howThe Fairly OddParentsis getting rebootedinto a live-action series, and many diehard fans ofThe Officehave been campaigning for the show to be brought back, perhaps this one TikTok could give Hollywood executives an idea as to how they could feasibly bring NBC’s classic mockumentary back from syndication.

As we all know, the entertainment industry has long since been completely shameless in rebooting previously concluded TV shows, to the point where it’s actually miraculous that a potential reboot ofThe Officehas never gotten any legs whatsoever since the show concluded in 2013. This TikTok from Hartman may give executives interested in potentially rebooting the show but in a way where they don’t have to bring it back in the same format, much like what Paramount will be doing with its reboot ofThe Fairly OddParents.

Instead of a potential reboot ofThe Officebeing live-action like previously was, it could be given some new flavor if it was animated. That would be quite the liberty to take and a difficult task at that. Part ofThe Office’s appeal when it aired was its real-world feelthanks to its mockumentary style. Making it animated would potentially bring the show out of its natural element. Nonetheless, fans would still tune in. The show still has a very loyal following all these years later because of how much the characters resonated with its viewers. Even though a reboot is not in the works as of now, TikToks like these could open the flood gates for one.
