Bungie is warningDestiny 2players about a glitch tied to the Defiant Battleground: EDZ mission which leads to a cinematic being skipped. New expansion launches likeLightfall’s can be a very chaotic time forDestiny 2players. There are new locations to visit, new game modes to play, new subclasses to unlock, and all of it is presented in a very haphazard way. In other words, it’s easy to miss something, especially if Bungie’s accidentally introduced a way to skip important cinematics to the game.Destiny 2Guardianshave been playing the shooter for some time now and after several years of experience, some behaviors become muscle memory. For example, finishing certainDestiny 2activities leads to a countdown before players are sent back into orbit. Rather than wait this full time, manyDestiny 2players will skip the countdown and manually send themselves into orbit. It’s normal and encouraged behavior.RELATED:Creepy Destiny 2 Easter Egg Has Nezarec Whispering to PlayersThose now playingLightfallmay be surprised to hear that if they have a tendency to skip the countdown after finishing an activity, they may have also missed a cinematic video. Bungie has posted a warning toDestiny 2players on Twitter, saying that players may be unintentionally skipping a cinematic shown aftercompleting Defiant Battleground: EDZ. If players are leaving before the mission end timer concludes, they won’t see the video.
There is luckily a workaround for those who believe they may have missed the Defiant Battleground: EDZ cinematic.Destiny 2players can simply revisit Defiant Battleground: EDZ either from the Director or from the H.E.L.M. Defiant Battleground playlist, play it to completion, and wait out the timer as if it were their first time playing. The cinematic should play automatically afterward. There’s no permanent harm caused by the bug in any way.
The cinematic isn’t required viewing forDestiny 2players, by any means. It doesn’t feature any revelations regardingLightfall’s campaign, the Veil, the Traveler, or the Witness. It does, however, feature an intriguing interaction between Amanda Holliday and Crow, and does provide some story spinning out of theLightfalllaunch trailer. It’s worth viewing, but isn’t mandatory.
Still, noDestiny 2player wants to hear that they may have missed a cinematic. This is hopefully anissue that Bungie can quickly resolveto ensure it doesn’t happen again, whether inLightfallor future content releases. Expect further updates in the weeks and months to come.
Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
