2K Games and Gearbox Software releasedBorderlands 3back in 2019 and fans of the series continue to express their appreciation for it in various ways. OneBorderlandsfan recently decided to create a life-sizedBorderlands 3vending machine replica.
YouTube user SentencedToBurn recently posted a video showing off theirBorderlands 3vending machine replica. Made out of 18 Gauge Panel Steel, this replica is motion activated and it features several different customer greetings inspired byBorderlands 3. Upon activating the replica, SentencedToBurn’s vending machine exclaims a familiar quote from Marcus Kincaid that in-game vending machines typically play.

The vending machine lights up in several different colors, with a bright blue light showing the unit is active. This light typically acts as a character’s interface with the in-game vending machines just like similar machines inother titles such asFortnite, and that’s no different with SentencedToBurn’s replica as the light is a button used to rotate the weapon rack. Their machine features a weapon rack that glows a different color depending on which panel is facing outwards just as it would inBorderlands 3. The weapon rack colors include green, orange, pink, and primarily white, the color of base weapons inBorderlands 3.
Comparable to every vending machine inBorderlands 3, SentencedToBurn’s replica features a screen at the top showing what it offers akin to theBorderlandsarcade machineshown off by another fan recently. This replica’s screen tellsBorderlands 3fans to reload in scrolling text and a style influenced by a similar in-game screen, with the bottom half of the narrow LCD panel showing a plethora of bullets. Just as the font on the screen scrolls swiftly to the right, there are three small bulbs that illuminate from left to right.
There are multiple slots and buttons on SentencedToBurn’s vending machine, most of which are used simply to appropriately portray the in-game machine. One of these slots lights up similar to the light signifying the vending machine is on and it appears to be the cash insert thatBorderlands 3characterswould use to purchase weapons from it. SentencedToBurn showed in their video how easily the side panels can be removed for maintenance, also displaying the few cables that make theBorderlands 3visuals possible.
When SentencedToBurn first turned on their vending machine replica, the unit said “a fair price for peace of mind,” but there are several other familiar lines of dialogue from the game that play as it’s interacted with. AlthoughBorderlands 3offers several different types of vending machines such as Ammo Dump and Dr. Zed’s Meds, SentencedToBurn’s replica is a standard vending machine without branding. They also made a series of videos on theirYouTubechannel showing off how the giant replica was created. With multipleBorderlandsprojects on SentencedToBurn’s YouTube channel, there may be more to come in the future.
Borderlands 3is available right now for Mac, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
