There’s nothing gamers love more than free giveaways. Whether it’s a unique version of a game or a limited edition controller, having a developer offer up some free goodies as extras can really make a person’s day and it doesn’t harm the developer’s reputation either. No more was this true than for one fan of Bloober Team’s new gameThe Mediumwho recently took to Twitter to express their joy.

User and Twitch streamer Stallion posted a tweet on Friday which included an image of an impressive looking Xbox Series custom controller from the creator of the hotly-anticipated horror gameThe Mediumas well as download codes for the game. Stallion understandably was grateful, thanking the team for its generosity. The game’s official Twitter account even replied to him, adding “may it serve you well in both realities.”

The Mediumis due for release on January 28 and is touted as this gaming generation’sSilent Hill, especially given the last game in the series was released more than eight years ago and the tragic loss ofP.T.has left a huge hold in the hearts of fans. Even with games such asVisageandAllison Road(also cancelled) taking cues from the called off Kojima/del Toro, this could still pave the way for Bloober Team to step in and fill aSilent Hill-esque gap that’s been sorely missed. They even hiredSilent Hillcomposer Akira Yamaokato do the music.

Bloober Team is certainly no stranger to horror. Its previous titles, such asLayers of FearandObserver, are considered huge successes and have made the company a household name in the genre.The Mediumis on every horror gamers lips as the developer teases live-action trailers and even a behind-the-scenes video just ahead of its release. With its macabre imagery and unique story that’s set intwo realities in which players solve puzzles in each, it’s not hard to see why it’s on a lot of people’s gaming radars.

It seems the Twitter user receiving the custom Xbox controller will only aid in hyping up the game right until it’s launched at the end of next week. It’s said to be the Polish studio’smost ambitious game to dateand while it remains to be said whether it will hold up to expectations, there’s a solid chanceThe Mediumcould be one of the biggest horror games of the year.
