Marvel Studios’Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessfeatured some exciting cameos that had been mostly kept a secret until the film’s global premiere. This included Anson Mount’s Black Bolt, who appears as a member of the Illuminati in one of the many universes that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange travels to along with Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez.

Mount shared a video of his first rehearsal forDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The actor is seen wearing a safety harness and stunt wires and being dropped from a height to make the perfect landing. The actor probably had to wait months before being able to reveal the four-second clip, to ensure that the Black Bolt’s appearance in the film remained a secret. Whilethe Illuminati was mentionedin the trailers for the film, it wasn’t confirmed who the members were.

When arriving on theset ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Mount claimed to feel welcomed by “the incredible stunt team and producer Richie Palmer.” He joked about his appearance in the behind-the-scenes video, which is obviously not what his character looks like on screen. Prior to filming the scene featured in the most recent Marvel Studios outing, Mount must have undergone stunt rehearsals, which is where the video comes from.

This isn’t the first time that Mount has featured as the hero Black Bolt, though. The character’s first live-action appearance was featured in the seriesInhumansand Mount portrayed the hero as part of it. It seems like Marvel is making a habit of introducing characters from the independent series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mount joinsCharlie Cox’s Daredevil, who was introduced into the MCU as part ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, who made his MCU debut inHawkeye.

Apart from Mount’s Black Bolt, the Illuminati featured an interesting array of characters from the comics. Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier was the one who received the warmest welcome from MCU fans, considering it was finally connecting the Avengers to theX-Menuniverse. John Krasinski’s Reed Richards worked as the perfect fan service, as many hoped he would be cast in the upcomingFantastic Fourfilm. It was refreshing for fans to see Lashana Lynch as Captain Marvel, after seeing her play the hero’s closest friendMaria Rambeau in 2019’sCaptain Marvel. And lastly, Hayley Atwell finally made her live-action appearance as Captain Carter.
