Updated July 07, 2025, by Mark Sammut:The Winter 2025 season has not had much in the way of supernatural entities. That said, Ishura includes avampire anime girlin its extensive cast, and Linaris features in one of season 2’s best segments. However, due to the show’s ensemble approach to storytelling, she has only appeared in one episode so far.

Twisting the mythos on its head,Karin’s eponymous girl is the direct opposite of the typical vampire, at least when it comes to blood. Rather than drinking blood to survive, Karin needs to get rid of excessive blood, a process that involves finding “victims” willing to drink it. Accomplishing that is not easy, and things become even more stressful when a new student arrives in her class.

Trinity Blood Mireille Manson in a dark room, a cruel smile on her lips

Karinis primarily a rom-com, with the story following Karin and Kenta’s gradual relationship as they grow closer. The vampire angle provides an interesting gimmick and early plot hook, but it is mostly pushed to the side after a while. Fortunately, Karin is incredibly charming and carries this show on her back, although Kenta is not a bad male lead either.

There are plenty of vampires who are not entirely evil. They can be capable of good deeds, or they can be outright heroines in their own right, but this is not the case with Mireille Manson ofTrinity Blood, who isas dastardly as villains come.

The Ancient Magus Bride Redcurrant in front of trees and roses, a contemplative expression on her face

War has broken out between vampires and humans, and Mireilla Manson is one of the former, originally posing as a nun in order to kidnap a very special child with telepathic abilities. But kidnapping is not her only crime, as members of the Fleur du Mal have been found guilty of many counts of murder, extortion, and kidnapping, showcasing the depraved depths of cruelty these specific vampires are willing to stoop to. Mireille is a character that anime fans will love to hate.

Though not the main star ofThe Ancient Magus' Bride,Redcurrant became a noticeable and memorable side character because of her story and relationship with Joel who, unlike this blood-drinking creature, was just a normal man with a love for writing. She always found herself drawn to passionate artists who weren’t too old, and Joel was no exception.

Undead Girl Murder Farce

Unfortunately, her beaus nearly all meet a bloody end because of Redcurrant’s thirst. With Joel, however, her character undergoes a drastic change, and she spares his life, holding no desire to end it prematurely. This shift in her character is nothing short of heart-warming and instantly cements her as a character fans can’t help but root for.

Despite the name, only one character in this anime is an undead of the fanged variety, and that is Carmilla. InUndead Murder Farce, three characters travel the world, undertaking cases revolving around the supernatural, which there are plenty of.

Blood+-3

Though Carmilla only plays a minor role, her short stint was enough to cement her as a fantastic vampire character, thanks tothe excellent visual design of her characterand her bewitching personality. Anyone who spends enough time around her is sure to be enthralled.

This vampire anime starts seemingly normal, following the life of Saya Otonashi as she struggles with anemia and recalling memories. A brutal vampire attack one night changes all of this, awakening Saya to her vampiric powers. She uses these to put an end to the vampire’s rampage and joins an organization so she can put these abilities to use by protecting others.

Kamyu in Utawarerumono

Saya’s life as a vampire inBlood+is anything but easy, as she carries regret regarding her younger sister Diva and wants to do whatever she can to right her wrongs, even if that means killing her. She carries a heavy burden for one so young, and viewers cannot help but to sympathize with her plight and hope she can experience peace with herself one day.

Utawarerumonofeaturesone of the strongest gods in animeas well as all kinds of supernatural creatures, including vampires. This thrilling anime masterfully blends political intrigue with mythical action and has well-crafted and likable characters like Kamyu.

Kamyu’s story is especially interesting since the cute girl went through a serious change because of the Onkamiyamukai. After her transformation into a vampire, her thirst for blood emerged, and fans could meet a whole new side of one of their favorite characters. This iconic vampire princess struggles a lot with her new vampiric nature since it’s so different from her naturally kind and caring personality.

Strike the Bloodisa brilliant harem anime serieswith plenty of powerful characters, but none of them are as selfless as Avrora Florestina. This beautiful vampiress sacrificed her powers to Kojou Akatsuki, elevating him to the status of the Fourth Progenitor, while she descended into a seemingly endless sleep.

Avrora Florestina in Strike the Blood

While Kojou’s escapades driveStrike the Blood’s narrative, it’s Avrora’s haunting legacy and the weight of her sacrifice that give meaning to it all. The deep bond she shares with Kojou is felt throughout the story and influences his every decision and battle. Although she might not be such an active part of the story, Avrora is its very heartbeat, since her story gives depth to a world that’s filled with fantastical beings and intense fights.

14Seraphim (Is This A Zombie?)

A Vampire AND A Ninja?

Primarily a parody ofmagical girls,Is This A Zombie?incorporates quite a few archetypes and themes, throwing all in the mix in the hope of creating something memorable and hilarious. For the most part, this decision was a success, as the anime is just all-around entertaining.

Showing up in search of Eucliwood, Seraphim makes a pretty great instant impression, largely thanks to her adversarial relationship with Ayumu. The two do not get along at first, although they gradually manage to find some common ground and work together. Sera does not emphasize her vampire origins all that much throughout the series, and she is arguably more of a classic ninja. That said, she does have her moments.

Arifuretais by definition a harem anime, with Hajime fairly quickly finding himself surrounded by female suitors who (mostly) belong to different races. That said, his main romantic partner is very clearly Yue, the powerful vampire he meets right after he is left to die by his classmates. While Hajime saves Yue, she also effectively saves his life, sparking an unbreakable bond that never falters throughout the rest of the show.

Yue is a good character in isolation as well, but she is heavily defined by her relationship with Hajime. In the sequel seasons, she is mostly just reduced to the male lead’s main love interest, and she is often reduced to a background figure as other female characters take center stage.

Ms. Vampire Who Lives in My Neighborhoodis one of the funniest and most lighthearted anime shows in the vampire genre, and it’s mainly thanks to Matsuri. She’s one of the cutest and most hilarious anime vampire girls who couldn’t be more different from the traditional brooding vampire archetype.

Sophie is a surprisingly sweet and bubbly vampiress with her quirks. Thanks to her human friend, Akari Amano, anime fans can get a playful peek into the daily shenanigans of vampire girls in today’s world. While her vampiric traits make the show feel more interesting, it’s her fun-loving spirit and the relatable challenges that make these stories so lovable.
