Battlefield 242is a divisive entry in the series to say the least, with many players bringing forth a laundry list of complaints. The game’s devs are attempting to address the bugs and problems of course, and rolling out new content likeBattlefield 2042’s Attack of the Elves mode.
Hopefully these fixes will lead toBattlefield 2042being a game that is worth its full AAA price some day, but for many it is too little too late. For some players the problems extend past bugs and into the roots of the game, as one player demonstrated with a small but important tactical oversight.

The problem Reddit user Naive_Frame9691 demonstrates is not necessarily a bug, but a cheapening of what should have been a tactical asset: bollards. For those unfamiliar, these are the rising pillars available on some parts of cityBattlefield 2042maps designed to stop vehicles in their tracks. The problem with these bollards is not really a glitch like the recently foundcutscene kill bug, but rather a physics problem. In a clip, the player shows bollards being raised, only for a tank, the very thing they should be halting, flying right over said bollards.
To be more specific, the tank approaches the bollards at an angle, coming up stairs, something that should already be somewhat difficult for the heavy vehicle. Rather than slowing, the tanks simply hits an incline and bounces right over the bollards as if it was a balloon. One might expect this sort of thing fromBattlefield 2042’s powerful hovercrafts, but not from a huge, heavy tank. This presents a problem for a game likeBattlefield, where tactical positioning is often of serious importance. The bollards are supposed to lock off certain areas from vehicles, requiring different tactics, but if those vehicles cannot be stopped, there’s no point.
To be fair, this is hardly the first instance of tanks going where they are not supposed to inBattlefield 2042. Earlier on players were using the vehicle call feature toput tanks on the roofs ofBattlefield 2042’s highest buildings.
This may be a minor problem in the grand scheme of things, but it highlights the lack of attention to detail when it comes to vehicle physics. Few players want a tank that can fly like a bird unless they and only they are piloting it. With problems in the game and theSanta Claus skin debacle, there’s a long way to go forBattlefield 2042. Hopefully it can reach a positive status soon.
Battlefield 2042is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
