With the spread of the Coronavirus quickly becoming a worldwide epidemic, it seems as though every industry in the world is currently putting employee and consumer safety above all else. As many will have seen, this has resulted in the suspension of theNBAseason, with Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert testing positive for the highly-contagious virus.
It seems that one professional Basketball player only caught the breaking news when in a high-octane stream ofCall of Duty: Warzone, resulting in a fascinating onscreen clip where the sports personality discovered that the season would be put on hold.

The streamer in question is none other than Devin Booker, a popular member of the Phoenix Suns, who, while playing on aTwitch stream,was informed of the unfortunate news. Learning of the suspension, Booker appears to be in a state of utter bewilderment, with the NBA player sitting back in confusion regarding the season being suspended with such little warning.
The clip begins with the sports personality reading his live Twitch chat who inform him that theNBA has announced it will be indefinitely suspending the season. Booker’s friend then enters the room, showing him a news article on his phone that reveals his Twitch chat is telling the truth, leaving the professional basketball player in a daze. Hilariously, he continues playing his intense game ofCall of Dutyregardless, simply repeating “bro” over and over in a state of pure confusion. A fellow player chatting to Booker appropriately remarks “this is all happening in a blink of an eye. This is literally nuts,” vocalizing exactly how the professional basketball player appears to be feeling in the moment.
Unfortunately, it seems as though the suspension of the NBA’s current season is merely another in along line of delays or cancelationscurrently affecting the media industry. Naturally, it’s disappointing to see so many highly-anticipated events have to close their doors in wake of the epidemic, however, it’s undeniably a strong sign to see companies taking such strong stances on the safety of both consumers and employees.
Alongside the NBA, major cinema releases likeF9, James BondandA Quiet Place 2have all seen dramatic delays due to the Coronavirus, while events like E3, GDC, and the Overwatch League have had to cancel to accommodate for the epidemic as well. Here’s to hoping that the media industry doesn’t take a significant hit due to the severe number of cancelations caused by this worrying global concern.
