Summary

Tekken 8developer Bandai Namco has issued a strong warning to fans who may be attempting to access the now closed network test through less than reputable sources. Nearly one year afterTekken 8debuted at Sony’s State of Play event last September, the excitement remains high thanks to new trailers and character reveals. Bandai Namco has continued to reveal more and more characters, many of which have seen a number of redesigns or models that have been vastly improved thanks to the studio’s use of Unreal Engine 5.

However, this past weekend gave many fans their first real taste ofTekken 8thanks to a second closed network test which kicked off on July 24 and ended on July 31. The limited test gave fans access to all revealed characters so far and while there are no new characters in this list, it at least gives players a chance to play around withTekken 8’s new mechanics and features like the Heat System. While the test has since closed, some players have found a way to get back into the Network Test, something which isn’t sitting well with Bandai Namco.

A dual statement from TEKKEN Project and Bandai Namco Esports issued an important reminder to fans after it was discovered that the network test had been cracked. The notice indicated that there are some players who managed to regain access to theTekken 8Closed Network Test, playing it beyond the stated end time. According to Bandai Namco, this action breaches the terms of service and the Tekken World Tour Code of Conduct, while unauthorized distributing or downloading the game is illegal.

Bandai Namco’s message continued stating that any player who is found to have accessed the network test without prior authorization may be disqualified from the upcoming Tekken World Tour and other official events as well. The note closed in asking for fan cooperation in preserving competitive integrity and fairness, as those who have access to the cracked network test could utilize the training mode to continue learning and improving includedTekken 8characters like Kazuyawhile others without access simply can’t.

Unfortunately for Bandai Namco, the Network Test being cracked was only part of the issue. During the first Network Test weekend, Cheat Engine was used to not only access the PS5 build, but it also resulted insix additional unannouncedTekken 8characters getting leakedwell before the developer was ready to reveal them. What isn’t yet known is if the leaked roster is the full launch version, or simply just a portion of what will ultimately become the full set. What it didn’t include was any potential guest characters, something that has become a staple of the Tekken franchise, leaving fans to wonder if they’ll need to wait for the inevitable DLC for that to happen.

Tekken 8is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
