It’s not much longer now untilAssassin’s Creed Valhallalaunches as the first entry in the series for next gen consoles. And there’s no need to worry about a last minute delay, asAC Valhallahas gone gold. That doesn’t mean development on the title has ended, as best demonstrated by a new trailer from Ubisoft that covers some details ofValhalla’s season pass.
The season pass, which is already included as part of the game’sGold and Ultimate editions, consists of two expansions and a bonus mission. The first expansion, Wrath of the Druids, will take place in Ireland and see Eivor come face to face with a druid cult, as well as cover Irish history and folklore. It will be available in spring 2021.

The second is called The Siege of Paris and will focus on the real-life Viking siege that took place in 845 AD. That siege saw an army of Vikings storm France and fight against the forces of the king Charles II, also known as Charles the Bald. This expansion is scheduled for summer 2021 and will have players take down Paris from within, gathering new allies and meeting historical figures.
The last piece of the season pass fans can look forward to experiencing at launch. It’s a new mission titled The Legend of Beowulf and has Eivor play detective as they investigate a string of mysterious attacks where the victims are covered in mold. This will obviously tie in to Beowulf poem from English literature.
This obviously isn’t the first timeAssassin’s Creedhas adapted fictional events.Assassin’s Creed Odysseyhad several mythical Greek monsters as boss fights andValhallawill also incorporateaspects of Norse mythology like Asgard.
There will be seasonal free content available for everyone as well, which will expand uponValhalla’s Viking settlementsand add other abilities and modes. The first is coming in December and adds a yule festival for the settlement and a new river raiding feature. The other three seasons will arrive in 2021, but Ubisoft didn’t go into any further detail on those.
And finally, in something that will delight history lovers, the Discovery Tour mode fromAssassin’s Creed OriginsandOdysseywill be returning, allowing players to educate themselves aboutValhalla’s setting and the real world history which it is based on.
Ubisoft clearly want people to still be playingAssassin’s Creed Valhallauntil 2021, though time will tell how engaging the post-launch content will be and if even the free additions will be enough to keep players coming back with each new update.
Assassin’s Creed Valhallalaunches on November 10th for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It will release for PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
