Andrew Garfield Lost Chronicles Of Narnia Role Because Of His Looks

Spider-Man: No Way Homestar Andrew Garfield is back in the Hollywood spotlight thanks in part to the reprisal of his web-slinging hero. However, the actor recently shed light on the fact that long before he appeared asSpider-Man,he tried and failed to get a role inThe Chronicles of Narniamovie franchise.

Back whenThe Chronicles of Narniamovies were first hitting theaters, Garfield was just a struggling actor starting out in the industry and had not yet been cast asSpider-Man. While these days, it seems likely that if he expressed an interest in appearing in them, he’d be able to name what role and how much money he’d make, there was a time when he didn’t have that kind of clout. When he let his people know he wanted to play Prince Caspian, he was rejected in no uncertain terms.

Speaking in a recent interview withEntertainment Tonight, theSpider-Man: No Way Homestarlaid out the painful truth of how he was told he wasn’t going to be getting a role in the movie series he had his heart set on. He started out by saying that he was absolutely desperate, and he constantly bugged his agent about getting the role. It turns out that Garfield bugged his agent about the movie so often, that eventually, his people told him the cold hard truth.

Those who were in charge ofThe Chronicles of Narniafranchise didn’t think that the actor was good-looking enough for the role of Prince Caspian. In the end, despite the fact that he badly wanted the role, it was turned over to Ben Barnes instead. Now, Garfield says that he is not unhappy with the choice producers made, as Barnes is a talented and handsome man intheSpider-Manstar’s estimation.

While that might have been a setback at the beginning of his career, it looks as though he was able to pick up the pieces and make a name for himself after all. In 2007, he first found success inBoy Aand then saw his career really take off when he starred inThe Social NetworkandNever Let Me Go.Two years after he found stardom, he was cast inThe Amazing Spider-Man.
