AMD Flagship RDNA 3 Card Could Be Four Times as Powerful as The RX 6900 XT

This current generation of both graphics cards and consoles has been a trying one, with shortages plaguing the marketing and hiked prices on sites like eBay leaving many having to pay way over the odds if they wanted to secure new hardware. However, with thechip shortages said to be ending, getting hold of anAMD, Nvidia, or even upcoming Intel GPU should be much easier. On top of that, there’s also the next-gen to think about, and a leak shows what team red may be offering at some point.

According to a recent report from Videocardz, which references a tweet from known leaker Greymon55, it’s possible thatAMDcould release a flagship product in its upcoming RDNA 3 range which may blow one of its most powerful current cards out of the water. The leak suggests that the tech giant could potentially unleash a GPU that features 92 TFLOPS, or teraflops, of FP32 performance. Previous speculations suggested that this elusive piece of hardware could have 75 TFLOPS, so that’s quite a step-up.

For reference, the currentAMD RX 6900 XT, which came out in December 2020, has 23.04 TFLOPS, so that means the company’s flagship RDNA 3 product could be four times as powerful as the former. There are a number of things that need to be pointed out, however. Firstly, this is only based on speculations, and there’s been no confirmation about what the spec of any upcoming Navi31 card will be. Second, more TFLOPS does not necessarily mean it will be four times as powerful across the board, but it is still an interesting thing to note.

With just a few months left until the next generation arrives, both AMD and Nvidia are looking to squeeze a bit more life out of this era before the market moves on. Recent rumors suggest thatAMD’s RX 6950 XT could be as pricey as the RTX 3090 Ti, not to mention that team red has also just launched a budget graphics card. There’s also Intel to contend with.

With theArc desktop graphics cards coming this summer, team blue will be another rival in the GPU industry. However, both the long-running giants have been preparing for the future of the technology, which could leave Intel lagging behind. With RDNA 3 coming fromAMDlater this year, and Nvidia hoping to launch its RTX 40-series in September, the fact that the shortages now seem to be ending, and prices are coming down, suggests the end of this year could be an interesting time for PC gamers.
