The sheer detail lurking in the New Austin map inRed Dead Redemption 2surmounted inspeculation of a remakeon the horizon, and only now does that horizon appear to be in sight. In a perfect world, bothRed Dead Redemptiongames would be combined to create a title with the story and characters of the first game, but with much of the modern gameplay and graphics of the second.

10Visuals

Red Dead Redemption 2’s graphic fidelity has been praised immensely since launch. Whether on the previous generation of consoles, the current generation, or PC, the game’s visuals are impeccable and make for standout moments when exploring the open world.

Games With The Best Graphics (At Their Time Of Release)

Knowing a remake of the first game could sport the same visuals is exciting. Especially after Rockstar’s last foray in to the world of remakes withGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy.Players were disappointedwith the state of the visuals on release, so hopefully the same is not the case withRed Dead Redemption.

9Greet And Antagonize

One ofRed Dead Redemption 2’ssimpler, but universally loved, features was the ability to speak to NPCs and townsfolk through targeting them and choosing to greet or antagonize. This would begin a conversation between Arthur Morgan or John Marston and an NPC. The dialogue options to greet or antagonize have made for some of the game’s most memorable and comedic lines.

The originalRed Dead Redemptionhad a primitive version of this system that was more honor based, but restructuring this to be more likeRed Dead Redemption 2would be a great idea. Many of John Marston’s lines could even be reused.

8Outfit Customization

Red Dead Redemption’slist of outfits were stylish, functional and tied to challenges for the most dedicated players to complete. WhilstRDR2hadoutfits with similar challenges, it also had a wide range of clothing items that could be purchased from different stores. It would be nice to see this level of clothing customization in a remake, but also retaining the game’s original set of outfits, especially the ponchos. If there’s one thingRDR2was missing, it’s ponchos.

Even beforeRed Dead Redemption 2released, gamers were speculating whether a secondUndead NightmareDLC would be developed. Unfortunately, the speculation never came true and like withGTA,Rockstar prioritized the online modes.

The Case For Red Dead Redemption 3 To Skip Straight To Undead Nightmare

Being one of the most beloved DLCs of all time,Undead Nightmaredeserves a remake just as much as the base game does. However unlikely this is, with the updated visuals and gun play, it could make for a much more visceral zombie western.

6Full Map

Much like howRed Dead Redemption 2featured the parts of the fictional state of New Austin from the first game, a remake could feature some of West Elizabeth or New Hannover from the second game. Although due to the size ofRed Dead Redemption 2’smap, this might be something of a pipe dream.

The idea of being able to travel back to keyareas in John Marston’s storyof growth in the second game with his character development in the first game would really tie both stories together despite their chronological release.

Since it’s release in 2019,Red Dead Onlinehas struggled to live up to the same successGTA Onlinehas and still sees to this day. What it does have though, is a number of interesting features added which are unavailable in the single player, in which certain special weapons or clothing items are available to unlock.

For those looking for style, there is a whole range of gun-spinning tricks for the pistols that players can hold. While the single player only allows for a flourished holstering animation for one pistol, online allows for extended spinning and dual spinning tricks. Something to spend hours playing around with, and scaring NPCs and players with.

In the world of prequels, it’s very easy to fall into plot holes due to a story occurring prior to another in universe, being written afterward. While the stories ofRed Dead RedemptionandRed Dead Redemption 2connect nicely, there are a few story beats to be found which don’t quite line up.

Red Dead Redemption Mexico

Probably the most popular story beat is how Arthur Morgan does a lot to help John Marston throughout the last couple of chapters ofRed Dead Redemption 2,but in the first game there is no mention of Arthur. It would tie both games nicely if Rockstar were to work in a few mentions of Arthur, and maybe resolvea few other plot holesin the remake and aide the continuity.

3Expanded Wildlife

Red Dead Redemption’swildlife was already expansive with different animals being specific to certain regions in the game. The second game then expanded on the wildlife and fauna of the in game world even more, adding to the beauty.

There are around 200 species of animal inRed Dead Redemption 2making hunting and studying animals a constant side activity throughout the game with its own challenges and rewards. A remake of the first game would certainly benefit from this expanded ecosystem and an increase in the wildlife which can be found across the game’s map.

2Gun Mechanics

ForRed Dead Redemption 2,Rockstar overhauled the gun mechanics for single action weapons requiring one button or trigger press to shoot, and another to cock the gun and chamber a new round.

A controversial and sometimes irritating decision, but also one that attempts to add a littleextra realism to the game. This feature in a remake would make gunfights play out a lot more like the second game adding an extra element to consider.

1Dynamic Body

Red Dead Redemption 2is Rockstars first game sinceGrand Theft Auto: San Andreasto include the ability to alter the player character’s body by overeating or under eating. It’s a feature that can be frustrating as it effects certain traits like stamina drain and health regeneration.

However, it can be a fun feature be responsible for each players' version of John Marston and would therefore be welcome in a remake of the first game. As well as this,Red Dead Redemption 2’sintricate hair growth system would be welcome too.
