There’s a pretty strong possibility that if you grew up watchingPokémon, you were also aYu-Gi-Oh!fan. These two series go hand-in-hand in the eyes of many fans. As such, you might have dreamed up some wonderful battles that we’ll never see that cross between the two series. Today, we’re going to be talking about just that, tenYu-Gi-Oh!vsPokémonbattles that we’d love to see happen one day. Let’s get right into this list of things that you’ll get excited about before realizing that they aren’t going to ever happen.
Blue-Eyes White Dragon Vs Charizard
Blue-Eyes White Dragon is one of the most iconic monsters in all ofYu-Gi-Oh!,and it’s only fair that we see it go up against one ofPokémon’smost feared dragons,Charizard. The two dragons would likely put up a great fight, as they’re both quite the fearsome creature. The only reason that we might give the edge to Blue-Eyes would be due to the size difference, but either of these two could take the other out under the right circumstances.
Kaiba Vs Blue
Snarkyrivalsare a common theme thatYu-Gi-Oh!andPokémonshare, so why not make them fight each other? That’s the natural progression of that thought, right? Blue vs Kaiba, let’s go.
Kaiba and Blue are really the only people that stand a chance of taking on their respective protagonists, even if they never quite win. Seeing the two battle while being incredibly rude to one another just sounds like a treat. As to who would win, that’s anyone’s guess. Gary would work great as a substitute for Blue as well.
Yugi Vs Ash
It’s time to d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-battle.

Yugi and Ash absolutely need to battle. There would be so much yelling and screaming about hope and believing in yourself and your monsters or Pokémon, it would probably be pretty annoying, honestly. Still, though, seeing who would win here would be pretty interesting. With Ash finally taking the League crown in Alola, he’s ready to take on some powerful opponents. Considering how rare it is that Yugi actually loses, Ash has his work cut out for him.
Joey Vs Brock Or Misty
Joey is Yugi’s right-hand man, just like Brock and Misty are to Ash. As such, Joey should face off against one of them. Either would really be a good choice, and would provide a great challenge for Joey to overcome. Of course, in a battle like this, it would all come down to how Joey’s luck serves him, which is always a gamble. Misty would also need some luck too, in the form of Psyduck not coming out to play.
Exodia Vs Giratina
Exodia and Giratina share somewhat of similar story, they were both banished for their destructive power. With that in mind, it would be pretty cool to see a duel between the two go down. While Giritina is incredibly powerful, Exodia is… Exodia. With infinite power behind it, the battle would probably be a win for the Forbidden One. Either way, seeing these two angry boys go at it would be quite entertaining. Maybe Giritina could surprise us and pull out a win in the end. If the battle took place in its home of the Distortion World, it could probably steal the win.
Thousand-Eyes Restrict Vs Mewtwo
Mewtwo and Thousand-Eyes Restrict are both very ominous presences in their respective anime, so a showdown has to occur between them.

Mewtwo is, of course, the star of the originalPokémonmovie and a psychic powerhouse. Thousand-Eyes Restrict is one of Pegasus’s ace cards, and a being of seemingly infinite power (the first season ofYu-Gi-Oh!had absolutely no rules). The two are naturals to do battle. Mewtwo would likely have to play pretty smart to take the win, as Thousand-Eyes Restrict has a defensive option for almost everything. Still, the two are pretty evenly matched, so don’t count either out.
Red-Eyes Black Dragon Vs Dragonite
Behind Blue-Eyes and Charizard, Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Dragonite are sort of like the B-Team of dragon mascots. So… beat each other up. Honestly, Dragonite just kind of seems too pure to be able to take out Red-Eyes, who has bloodlust in its eyes. While we could be wrong, it just doesn’t really seem like Dragonite would even stand a chance. Although, the base form of Red-Eyes really isn’t that powerful. Maybe things aren’t so clear cut.
The Dark Magician Vs Pikachu
As the mascots of their shows, The Dark Magician and Pikachu just have to take each other on. It’s the law. But… this doesn’t even seem fair. Pikachu isn’t even fully evolved, and it’s taking on an incredibly old and powerful wizard… poor thing. Maybe transforming into Pikachu Libre is just the edge that Pikachu needs to take the win in a battle like this.
The Creator God Of Light, Horakhty Vs Arceus
In the canon ofYu-Gi-Oh!, The Creator God of Light, Horakhty, is one of the most powerful beings in existence. All three God Cards must be tributed in order for The Creator to even be summoned. Arceus is just as powerful inPokémon, who is seen as the creator of everything. Seeing these two battle would be an incredible showing of strength. There’s just no way to determine who would be the winner in a battle like this, as each seem to have power that we cannot even begin to understand.
Yugi Vs Red
While Yugi vs Ash is one thing, we’re all here for the main event, Yugi vsRed. These two facing off would make our childhoods explode in pure bliss. Red has his incredible team of massively powerful Pokémon, while Yugi has his deck of strong Magicians. The battle between these two would be one for the ages.
As for who would win? That’s a tough one. Both of these two are so experienced and highly skilled that it would be incredibly close. A 100 life points left and a single Pokémon left kind of close.
